I have scanned the tail gate of a utility vehicle. The tailgate has a feature where by the center section folds down separately from the tailgate body and becomes a step to enable the user to step up & into the bed.
In ExScan, the group consists of 4 projects. Each project is the tail gate in it’s 4 different positions.
Now, rather than meshing all projects together, I want to mesh each project separately so that when i open the .STL in my 3rd party software, i can have four different configurations.
I have tried copying the the group files in my (C:) Drive folder but found this causes other issues within the folders itself.
I agree – this is a long-standing software flaw that hasn’t been fixed (or perhaps it’s the company’s “policy”: one project - one object/scan position).
For now, perhaps creating a new project and importing the necessary parts from this project will work.

Here is the recommended approach:
Mesh each project individually – In ExScan, after you have completed the alignment and fusion (project alignment) for a given position, simply generate the mesh for that single project. Do not merge all projects together.
Export the mesh separately – For each of the four projects (closed/upright, open/down, closed+step open, open+step down), export the resulting mesh as an independent STL file.
Open in third‑party software – In your external software, you can open each STL file separately. This way, you will have four distinct configurations available, and you can switch between them or combine them as needed within that software.
If you need to keep them in a single group file for reference, you can still export each project’s mesh without merging them.
