Einstar Vega: Wish List

Hi, I have been using einstar for years and I love it. Vega is also a very nice device, but I wanted to share the features that I felt were missing and wished they were there. I hope you will evaluate it. Thank you.

1- 3-2-1 Align System
2- Global Markers
3- 2.5m triangles limit problem
4- Starvision mesh surface quality problem
5- After mesh continue scan
6- Align projects on Vega
7- 0.05 resulition select in hd mode
8- Refresh button in starvision for cable transfer data (If a scan is performed after the connection is made, it does not appear on the computer.)
9- Ability to use light as a flashlight (I know it’s not necessary for the scanner, but it’s necessary for me in dark places)
10- Instead of choosing the resolution as 0.5-1.0 range, you can make a clear choice of resolution like 0.5 or 1.0 like in classic Einstar.
11- Instead of selecting % in the points simplification setting, you can directly select the target point number (for example 10,000 points)
12- İsometric camera view and multiview (Perspective view is sometimes useless when selecting to delete points)
13- More points appear in the desired areas after scanning (it is difficult and suspicious to make a selection with fewer dots when wiping and cleaning the object)
14- Surface trace problem after filling the marker hole, the filled hole does not seem like a continuation of the surface
15- ā€œVariable optimizationā€, in places where the details are dense, there should be more points and triangles, while in planar places there should be

Thanks for your feedback! Here is the response to all this suggestion:

  1. 3-2-1 Align System
    The current coordinate system is chosen based on the convenience of mobile operations, and it can provide relatively accurate alignment results. We are still evaluating the 3-2-1 alignment system.

  2. Global Markers
    This feature will be launched in the next version, v1.4.

  3. 2.5m triangles limit problem
    It is solved on StarVision v1.3.1, We will also resolve this issue and release it in VEGA app v1.3.1 later.

  4. Starvision mesh surface quality problem
    Could you please describe this idea in more detail or with image? It would be helpful if you can provide any visual examples.

  5. After mesh continue scan
    This feature is currently under development and will be released in a future version.

    This feature is still in planning. If it is confirmed to be launched, I will notify you of the update here.

    We will modify the operation logic for connecting to the computer in v1.4, and this issue will no longer occur.

    You can enable texture acquisition and use a supplementary light. If you don’t need texture data, you can turn off the texture view by pressing the left button during scanning. In the post-processing stage, you can choose not to use the texture map. We will evaluate the need to enable the supplementary light independently.

  10. Instead of choosing the resolution as 0.5-1.0 range, you can make a clear choice of resolution like 0.5 or 1.0 like in classic Einstar.
    The design aims to give users more flexibility in later operations. The device will capture enough data to meet the user’s need for varying point distances, optimizing the user experience based on the original operational method.

    The current setting considers the needs and difficulty of operation for professional users, regular users, and beginners. We will evaluate this request, and if it’s confirmed, I will notify you of the update here..

    You can choose higher smoothing to eliminate this phenomenon. We will also continue to optimize this feature in future versions.

    We have received this suggestion and will assess it for future updates.

1.-3-2-1 Align System
The current alignment system is very nice and very practical. I like it very much. However, aligning according to references is a much more reliable method with the 3-2-1 system. I think the two cannot be compared and both are needed.

3.2.5m triangles limit problem
I’m so glad this problem was solved, it was really important. You’re great.

4.Starvision mesh surface quality problem
When the 2.5m triangle problem was solved, the surface quality problem was also solved. It is very good now.

9.Flashlight
Turning on the texture tracking feature, even though I don’t need it, causes unnecessary load on the device. The file size increases and it becomes difficult to process the scan. I kindly ask you to consider the flashlight issue.

13.More Point Visible Before Meshing
As you can see after meshing, there are many details visible in the part. However, almost none of the details in the point cloud are visible due to the low number of points. And I have difficulty selecting the places I want to cut. It would be great to increase this number of points for Starvision.Classic Einstar Exstar software is very successful in this regard.

14.Marker hole filling problem
The filling should be done according to the triangle ratios on the surface. The hole is closed with fewer triangles than the triangles around it, which creates incompatibility.

Indeed, this would be quite helpful to have an isometric camera to select points (both on the scanner and when selecting points using StarVision).
