Observations:
-Auto cutting plane is good. On a black turntable in HD mode with features and marker mode, crank the brightness all the way up and hit scan. It will detect it to cut, then drop the brightness to keep scanning with the right settings. Fast mode was also great scanning kids toys on the carpet. It removed the carpet perfectly.
-Coordinate System Adjustment is nice. Although I would like to create planes, lines and points with 321 system for even better accuracy.
-Auto hole filling would be nice to have different choice to fill flat, curved etc.
-Screen mirroring works well with very little latency. One problem I seen was you can’t close the advanced settings when tapping the X mark. It seemed to get stuck. The device wasn’t frozen as you can still use the settings.
What I would like in the next update:
-Dark/light mode button to be programmable, start a scan, switch modes etc.
-321 alignment for better alignment accuracy.
-Groups within a project so you can keep multiple point clouds together. Same way Exstar software does it. Extra ability to align 2 point clouds with manual and automatic modes on the device without using starvision.
-Less edge artefacts when you do not have a manifold meshed object, there is a lip that shouldn’t exist sometimes. I believe this really needs optimising, just to get a cleaner edge.
-Auto hole filling extra modes.
-Make the point cloud a bit smaller in pixelation to be able to see better if you’ve scanned everything or not.
-Modify the Delete button to give you an option to delete the point cloud whilst keeping the mesh.
-Go back to scanning mode after power cycle and opening the project back up.
-Reduce mesh size on the device using simplification.
-When the device boots, give the option to go into either HD mode or Fast mode. Waiting a few seconds, knowing it’s not the mode you want to use can be a little frustrating.
-when cutting a mesh with rectangular tool, being able to keep it manifold and remove one side of the mesh. More like a slice tool with an option to keep both halves
I can imagine some of my wants for the next updates could be quite difficult to implement, so I’m not expecting miracles but would be amazing to see on a handheld device in future and a true market leader.
