Scan & Post Process ideal settings for laser cutting only

I’m scanning car door panels in order to make patterns for covering them with leather/vinyl. The patterns will be flattened and load into a laser cutter to cut individual pieces. I’m using Shining and EXStar. The file size is hugh for 1 door panel. 12GB after Point Clounds and b4 mesh. My scan res is 1mm. Can someone give guidance/best practices/settings to help keep file sizes down. Each door panel will likely be broken into 5 separate pieces/patterns.

You can use the simplification function in mesh editing to reduce the size of meshed model. It should be noted that some details will be lost after a high degree of simplification, You may want to try it to see the effect and find a balance between file size and details.
