ExStar Hub corrupts my projects

Hello there,

So I decided to go for a bit of an overkill scanning project at 0.2mm and markerless laser scanning to try and push the limits of my Lenovo laptop (13905H, 64GB DDR5, RTX4070 8GB) and also copy it over and see how my Dell (10850H, 64GB DDR4, Quadro RTX5000 16GB) would handle meshing it with intelligent simplifications on. Mainly to gather enough data so I can make the right decision on what GPU to purchase for my desktop workstation in terms of generation and amount of VRAM as my current Radeon cannot work with this software.
Lenovo was barely able to complete it (standard, intelligent, capped to 20 mil triangles, kudos to the software warning me that this machine may not be strong enough for the job), so anyway, I copied over the whole folder to the Dell and opened the project….that’s where it got stuck at 50% for a long time….no simplifying worked fine, intelligent simplifying crashed the app after 45 sec every single time. I noticed that instead of simply reading the project.pro file on import, instead it pretty much wipes it and generates a new, much smaller one. Original file size was over 7GB, reconstructed one around 1.2GB.
The weird thing was that same process happened when I relaunched ExStar Hub on the Lenovo to check it out again….so now I would not have the original, intact file anymore had I not copied it over a flash drive and archived it.
I’ve had a few crashes so far since I very recently got this scanner but this is getting out of hand.
Is there any fix for this? Why is it happening in the first place?

Running Windows 11 Pro on both machines.

Kind regards,
Tsvetan

okay, would you pls share some logs to me ?

Certainly.
I found the support page and created a ticket as well, after creating this post. But I cannot upload the logs on either platform as they’re too large. Is uploading to Google Drive and posting a link okay? Should I do it here or add it to the ticket ?

yes that’s ok, you can upload to some drive and share the download link, add that inside ticket

Uploaded and linked inside ticket.
