Hello, the Vega’s ability to scan black objects in fast mode is perfect, however in HD mode, this is really not the case, even with the depth exposure at maximum, it is not enough, could this be a hardware limitation or do you think this can be corrected on a future firmware update? Thanks ![]()
Hi Sebada,
Both Fast and HD modes support scanning black objects. Fast mode is more effective due to the VCSEL projector, but HD mode can also handle most black and non-reflective objects.
We’d like to know more about the object you’re finding difficult to scan. If you could share the details, we’d be glad to provide additional support and test a similar object.
Here is the scanning we just made to show you the ability of black object scanning in HD Mode, When scanning the matte black object on the left, data acquisition is very fast. For the slightly reflective black surface on the underside of the car model on the right, it’s recommended to use surrounding geometric features to assist with alignment and perform multiple scans to ensure complete data capture. I hope this experience can be helpful to you!
Thanks for your quick reply, I tried on a black Xbox controller in HD mode, shape + texture. Without using spray with exposure and LED at maximum, it’s really limited compared to other scanners I have. Hence my question about the hardware limitation. I could show you the example yes.
