Hardware requiremenst for Einstar Shining 3d

Hello all! I am a new in 3d scanning and i think to buy Einstar Shining 3d scanner! I read the hardware requirements and I understand, that I must use Nvidia graphic card, because they have Cuda cores! My question is can I use AMD processor instead Intel??? Is there any specific requirements to use Intel??? Because I have to buy a laptop that cover system requirement for VGA, RAM and CPU! Best regards, Veselin!

P.S. Sorry for my bad English! It’s not my national language!!!

Hi, Iron

You can use EINSTAR on PC with AMD processor and NVIDIA graphic card.

Thank you for your replay! I buy the scanner!

Thanks for choosing us! Feel free to ask question here if you find any problem.

Let me share you my experience to now! My PC configuration is Ryzen 7 3700X, RTX3060Ti, 16GB Ram. Everything works for now. I continuing to learn, the scanner is good, i like it! Is there step-by-step tutorial for software, something like button and function explanation??? Best regards Veselin!

Hi,
You can check this YouTube play list of EINSTAR tutorials: https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLtJFjqd-Enws9sHm5-Yctn5dmhqXRxaNV&si=YPrKF5tHGgHtSu3F
Feel free to ask question here

My question is pretty straightforward: Im going to get the ProSumer Portable so Im looking to upgrade my laptop. between a machine with Nvidia 4060 for $1200 or one for with the 4070 for $1350? I do a lot of other video work but no gaming. The quicker I answer this question the faster I buy the scanner. Thanks!

Hi, havocproltd

Nvidia 4070, 32GB or higher

If I need to scan only small items (20cmx25cmx20cm) do I still need Nvidia? I have several laptops or desktops but as I don’t play games, none of them has Nvidia…

For Einstar scanner, Nvidia is necessary, or macOS PC
Or you can choose EINSTAR VEGA, which has built-in computing and PC software StarVision has no PC configuration requirement.

I have a similar question. I recently bought a Shining 3D scanner. I found that my GPU doesn’t meet the hardware requirements. I have a Lenovo Thinkpad X1 with a sifficient CPU and Thunderbolt 3 USB-C. Now I need to buy an external GPU, but the territory is confusing. Can anyone recommend a middle-of-the-road eGPU enclosure, card, etc., available in North America?

Hi Veselin! No worries — your English is clear enough to understand.

From my own experience with 3D scanning and printing, here’s what I can share:

Graphics Card (GPU): Yes, the Einscan software relies on NVIDIA GPUs because of CUDA cores, which makes processing scans much faster. I’ve tried running scans on a laptop without CUDA support, and the software was extremely slow, so having the right GPU really matters.

CPU: You don’t need Intel specifically. I’ve used both Intel and AMD (Ryzen) CPUs for scanning, and as long as the processor is modern and fast enough, it works well. The key is having enough processing power to handle large scan files, especially if you plan to later 3D print the models.

RAM & Storage: I’d recommend at least 16 GB of RAM — anything less can cause lag with high-resolution scans. Also, make sure you have enough storage, because scanned files can get quite large, especially if you plan to prepare them for filament-based 3D printing later.

In short: focus on getting an NVIDIA GPU, a capable CPU (Intel or AMD), and enough RAM/storage, and you’ll have a smooth scanning experience.
