Einstar Specs - Upgrade my CPU or buy new Laptop?

Planning to buy the Einstar 3D scanner later this month. I compared the computer requirements to my current machine and my CPU is lacking (recommended is the i7-11800H or better). I have the Intel Xeon 2135 (in a desktop).

i7-11800h specs:

  • 8 core, 16 thread
  • 2.3 GHz base clock speed
    • Single core overspeed: 4.2 GHz
    • Overspeed (all cores): 4.2 GHz
  • 24 MB of L3 cache
  • DDR4-3200 memory

I’m looking to upgrade my Intel Xeon 2135 processor to the 2255 which has the following specs:

  • 10 Core, 20 thread
  • Base Clock Speed: 3.7 GHz
  • Max OverClock Speed: 4.7 GHz
  • 19.25 MB L3 cache
  • DDR4-2933 memory

The rest of the computer specs are below:

  • Nvidia Quadro P4000 - 8GB of GDDR5 memory (Recommended is 6GB)
  • 64GB of DDR4 memory (Recommended is 32 GB)

Will i run into using the scanner if i upgrade to the Xeon 2255 CPU? The cost to upgrade is only $300 for me and its a whole lot cheaper than buying a new machine to use the scanner. I’m starting a business and just looking to keep my costs down. Once i get up and running I can upgrade the machine–just looking to save costs while I’m in startup mode. Any help/suggestions are appreciated.

Thanks,

Shawn

Upgrading to the Xeon W-2255 fully meets the performance requirements of the Einstar 3D scanner. Your CPU’s single-core performance and core count are on par with the recommended i7, and combined with 64GB of RAM and a Quadro P4000 GPU, scanning and post-processing will run smoothly. For a startup, this upgrade is both cost-effective and practical, while leaving room for future improvements.
