Dear R&D team,
I would like to share a workaround for a recurring issue in EXStar Hub 1.0.9 with Einstar 2. I have confirmed that this issue occurs not only on poor spec laptops but also on full-spec desktop towers.
The Problem:
-
The very first Laser Scan (e.g., at 0.05mm resolution) works perfectly with a blue point cloud and successful meshing.
-
However, any subsequent scans (new projects or sub-groups) result in a “yellow” point cloud with insufficient data, leading to failed point cloud generation or data loss.
-
Restarting EXStar Hub does NOT resolve the issue.
The Workaround: I found a specific sequence to fix this without rebooting the PC:
-
Complete your first scan session (Blue point cloud) and stop.
-
Go back to the Home screen and create a New Project.
-
Change the Resolution to any different value (e.g., from 0.05mm to 0.1mm).
-
Start a “Dummy Scan” for a few seconds, then stop and discard the data.
-
Revert the Resolution back to your intended value (e.g., 0.05mm) and start the scan again.
-
Now, the blue point cloud should be capturable again.
-
You can then import and merge other projects/sub-groups at the same resolution.
It seems like the software fails to properly initialize or reset certain parameters/memory between sessions unless the resolution is manually toggled.
Has anyone else experienced this? I hope the development team can look into this “initialization bug” for future updates.
